Just one of my favorites…

This image was taken at El Santuario de Chimayo, in New Mexico. It was a trip to the location shortly after Easter last year. During the week prior to Easter, a great pilgrimage is started by devotes seeking the curative powers of the blessed dirt contained inside the church. The fences surrounding the church are covered in handmade crosses, rosaries and prayer cards with pictures of saints and the Virgin of Guadalupe. Again, I am not much on religion, but am fascinated by the iconography, ceremony and the devotion of its followers.
