This beauty was dropped right on my front porch this morning.

I take a lot of pictures specifically for this photo blog. I also shoot a lot of Polaroid pack film for my fine art. For some reason I store each Polaroid exposure away like squirrels with nuts, carefully put into a box to emulsion transfer at some later point. (www.myhungryeye.com) This morning I found myself scanning my digital archives for a blog post and was feeling uninspired. I spotted this on my desk, tucked aside for a little painting series I was thinking about. Not sure why I hadn’t scanned any Polaroid before now…born is a new blog category.

This post is dedicated to my wonderful Grandfather. He wasn’t expected to last the night and I have not heard what the night has brought to my family. I am dedicating an image of lightning to him because he worked most of his life for the electric company. Electricity was his thing. I remember fondly sitting in the garage with him watching the summer storms blow through and jumping slightly with every lightning bolt. “Wow, that was a big one!” he would say. Each one was a mini celebration of sorts. And if it got too bad we knew that they would call him in to come fix the damage and off he would go in some whirling storm. He was a good man to me and when he goes I will miss him greatly. I cherish the fact that I still have his last name…
